Springs

The primary method of increasing AEG muzzle velocity and range is upgrading the main spring. Springs yielding muzzle velocities of 120 m/s (394 ft/s) through 160 m/s (525 ft/s) are available, but may also require other upgrades to reliably support the increased power levels.

Pistons and Piston Heads

Increased power levels often require stronger components to withstand the increased stresses, a large part of which is imparted on the piston. Pistons with additionally reinforced teeth and body structure are beneficial in such high stress circumstances.

Gears

With strong springs, the stock AEG motor may begin to encounter difficulties in cycling the mechbox, requiring the mechanical advantage of "torque-up" gearsets to compress the spring. Torque-up gearsets also often feature the added advantage of helical teeth.
